asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in respect of Aer Lingus/Aerlínte. Aer Rianta, CIE, Óstlanna lompair Eireann, ESB, Bord na Móna, Irish Shipping Ltd. and B & I Steam Packet Company, (a) capital employed, (b) profit or loss before taxation, (s) total wages and salaries paid, (d) number of employees and (e) value of exports, for each of the last two years for which the information is available.

The information is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report.

(i) These figures are arrived at after deducting depreciation and interest payments from operating profits.

(ii) Represent revenue earned abroad.

(iii) Surplus on operating account at Dublin Airport.

(iv) Surplus on operating accounts at Dublin, Shannon and Cork Airports. (Aer Rianta assumed responsibility on 1st April, 1969, for the management of Shannon and Cork Airports on the same basis as the Company manages Dublin Airport as the Minister's agent.)

(v) Represents net deficit excluding annual subsidy of £2 m.

(vi) Represents net deficit excluding annual subsidy of £2.65 m.

(vii) Represents earnings abroad for tours services provided by C.I.E., i.e. the gross revenue from tours operations minus outpayments in respect of hotels and entertainment, etc.

(ix) Estimated revenue from foreign visitors.

(x) Interest on loan capital paid in 1968/69 was £152,803. Interest on loan capital advanced by the State amounting to £1,252,819 was waived under the Turf Development Act, 1968. Corresponding figures for 1969/70 were £144,286 and £1,139,782, respectively.

(xi) Net external earnings.

(xii) Financial year ends on 31st December.
