Vol. 251 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as follows: Nos. 1, 4, 5, 17, 18 and 19. Private Members' business will be from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., No. 33 on the Order Paper.

Would the Taoiseach say why No. 5 which deals with redundancy is not taken with No. 18? There is a relationship between the two of them.

I understood that they were both to be taken together.

No. 5 is the Redundancy Order and No. 18 is the Redundancy Payments Bill but as it is it is proposed to have the Prohibition of Forcible Entry Bill after the motion with regard to redundancy contributions.

I cannot say. I am sure there would be no difficulty about taking them together if it was considered appropriate.

Well, for his own sake, one should be taken after the other.

Well, it does not mean much. It is really separate business.

From last night's notification in handwriting I understood that 5 and 18 were to be taken together. That would seem to be natural because there are comments which must be made on No. 5 and which could easily be made on No. 18.

There is no reason why they cannot be made on Second Reading of the Bill. I have cleared this in the Seanad and it is a matter of some urgency. The stamps have to be got out.

Maybe it is that the Minister for Justice wants to get along with his business.

There would be no trouble about putting No. 5 after 17 if that was the case.

I am only looking after the interests of the Minister for Justice. I think I will leave it as it is.
