asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether CIE have any plans to develop container traffic through Limerick.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Container Traffic.
10.
Mr. O'Donnell
I have been informed by CIE that in order to meet local needs and with a view to generating traffic the board have provided a bonded warehouse at Limerick station. Containerised traffic may travel by rail under custom bond to Limerick where customs clearance is performed. A ‘break-bulk' service is available, as well as distribution to destinations as far afield as Tralee and Galway. In the case of export traffic, provision is made for the reception and consolidation of small consignments apart from the handling of full unit loads.
