Vol. 251 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-dated Pay Order.

68.

asked the Minister for Local Government why pay order No. 35/94470/06 issued by his Department to pay a grant on foot of certificate of approval No. 6238 was post-dated.

This was due to a clerical error. If the order is returned I will have a fresh order issued.

I would ask the Minister to give an assurance that this is not the thin end of the wedge and that a precedent for issuing post-dated pay orders from Government Departments has not been established.

It was purely a clerical error which happened in about six cases. It is believed when changing the date stamp from 20th to 21st January the part of the stamp showing February was inadvertently turned over as well.
