asked the Minister for Local Government if he intends to have any changes made in the electoral areas before the next local elections; and, if so, what the changes will be?

The question of review of local electoral areas will be considered in the context of the proposals set out in the recent White Paper on Local Government Reorganisation. As indicated in the White Paper a timetable for implementation of the proposals will be drawn up when the views of interested parties have been considered and final decisions made. It is not possible at this stage, therefore, to indicate what changes, if any, may be made in local electoral areas before the next local elections.
