Vol. 252 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Planning Appeals.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of objectors to date against the decision of Dublin Corporation giving planning permission for civic offices, council chambers, shops and a bank at Wood Quay, Fishamble Street, Winetavern Street and Church Lane; and why the oral hearing of the appeals has been postponed from 1st April to 6th May, 1971.

Up to date I have received a total of 16 separate objections, either from individuals or from representative bodies against this development.

It was necessary to postpone the oral hearing from 1st April, 1971 to 6th May, 1971, because it has been intimated to me that the inspector appointed to hold the oral hearing on 1st April, 1971, may be leaving the service of the Department and 6th May, 1971 was the earliest date on which an alternative inspector would be available.

Would the Minister not agree that it would have been an appropriate courtesy to the objectors to indicate to them, in the notice of post-ponement, the reason for the postponement?

Yes, it would have been more reasonable.

Would the Minister ensure that courtesy is observed in future?

If the same sort of situation should arise in future, courtesy will be observed.
