Vol. 253 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 26. By agreement Nos. 3 and 4 will conclude not later than 1.30 p.m. Questions at 2.30 p.m.

May I have the Chair's guidance? There will be a reply from the movers of the motion? It will be similar to Private Members' Time—the Minister intervenes at some stage and then some of those whose names are appended to the motion will have the right to reply?

The position is that the Chair cannot agree to this unless the House agrees to it.

The motion was put down by members of the Labour Party. Surely if a motion is moved in this House those whose names are appended to it will have the right to reply?

I have no objection.

This is normal procedure.

It is agreed that the mover of the motion concludes. How long would the concluder require?

There are a number of motions before the House.

We should ensure that the time is divided equitably.

It might be advisable to hear the Minister first to give us his reasons for this order.

(Cavan): The Minister gave his reasons at some length.

Surely we can get agreement that there will be 15 or 20 minutes reply from each?

Perhaps ten minutes would suffice.

Is the Minister withdrawing the order, as rumour has it? If he is we could save a lot of time.

Is the Deputy looking for information now?
