Vol. 253 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Trawling School Apprentices.

46.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (1) the number of apprentices attending Moville trawling school, County Donegal; and (2) how often reports are sent to parents by the principal of the school.

There are at present 22 boys attending the course at the Fishery School, Moville, under my Department's scheme for the training of boys as fishermen. It is not the practice for the education officer in charge of the school to communicate with the parents of the boys but reports on each boy are sent weekly to head-office in Dublin, or immediately, if required in any particular circumstances.

Do they not even report yearly to the parents?

The course only lasts a year.

I know, but even at the end of the year?

If they qualify for the certificate at the end of the year this is an indication of their success at school.
