Vol. 253 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Housing Development.

101.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received any report from Dublin Corporation regarding possible housing development in the City Quay area, Dublin.

On 6th instant, I received from Dublin Corporation a report of a meeting which was held on 23rd March, 1971, between representatives of the City Quay Parish Association and the City Manager and officials of the corporation about housing in the City Quay area. According to this report, it was agreed at the meeting that:—

1. A map showing the zoning of the area to be made available to the association.

2. The City Manager to let the committee know the earliest date when the preliminary report on traffic would be available.

3. Corporation to indicate the areas that would not be affected by the possible road development.

4. The association to carry out a housing survey of the area.

5. The City Quay/Fenian St. area to be taken as a pilot area for a study of how to maintain the population of a centre city area.

6. The association to set up a sub-committee to consult with the Corporation Planning Department.

I will continue to keep this matter under personal review and will consider, on its merits, any proposal which may be submitted for the provision of dwellings in the City Quay area.
