asked the Minister for Finance the amount of income tax and sur-tax relief for owner occupiers in respect of mortgage interest in the latest year for which information is available.
Information is not available on which an accurate estimate could be based. However, the indications are that the cost to the Exchequer of allowing relief in respect of mortgage interest is currently of the of £16 million.
