An extension to one vocational school in County Sligo has been approved and sanction in principle has been given for extensions to two vocational schools in County Leitrim. It is not possible to say when work on the schemes will start.
Proposals for the erection of one new technical school in County Sligo are being considered but a decision has not yet been made. There are proposals to establish a community school at Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, to provide for post-primary education generally in the area.
Vocational education committees are responsible for repairs to technical schools. The arrangements they make in the matter are not subject to detailed sanction by the Department
