Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Property Development.

63.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the houses at Hume Street/St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, for which planning permission for their redevelopment has been sought.

On 19th February, 1971, the planning authority, Dublin Corporation, decided to give planning permissions, with conditions, to the Green Property Company for three separate revised proposals for office development at St. Stephen's Green and Hume Street. Two of these proposals provided for the redevelopment of 44-49 St. Stephen's Green and 1-2 and 18-19 Hume Street, the significant difference between them being in layout not affecting the facade. The third proposal provided for redevelopment of the same property but in relation to 46 St. Stephen's Green and 1 Hume Street provided that the development would be carried out in a separate and later phase from the rest of the property. The permissions given had regard to the representations made to the planning authority by such bodies as An Taisce, Bord Fáilte and An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

None of these bodies appealed the decision of the planning authority but a third party appeal was received by me against these grants of permission and the Green Property Company also appealed against one of the conditions imposed by the Dublin Corporation.

An oral hearing of these appeals was held on 7th April, 1971. Following consideration of the report of the inspector who conducted the oral hearing, orders were made by me on 4th June, 1971, under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, determining the appeals and granting permissions subject to conditions for the three separate revised proposals.
