Since my reply to the Deputy's question of 19th November, 1970, last a deputation from the county council was received by me and as the Deputy, who was a member of that deputation is no doubt aware, certain proposals for the financing of this project were made and approved by me in principle. The question of appointing a consulting engineer to design an opening-type bridge was also raised by the deputation and my sanction to this proposal was conveyed to the council on 1st June, 1971.
