asked the Minister for Finance if it is intended to enter into a double taxation agreement with Australia in relation to income tax etc.; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Double Taxation Agreement.
30.
The answer is in the affirmative.
Preliminary steps were taken some years ago with a view to the conclusion of a comprehensive double taxation agreement with Australia. It was ascertained that the Australian Government, in principle, were willing to enter into negotiations but delay was anticipated because of Australia's existing and envisaged commitments in this field. The matter is being kept under continuous review and negotiations will take place as soon as the Australian authorities find it possible to fix a date for their commencement.
