Vol. 255 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Estates.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission are presently taking steps to acquire the Lane estate, Tallow, County Waterford in accordance with the wishes of the many congests in the area.

The Land Commission have decided to carry out an inspection of this 207-acre property and the requisite notice under the Land Act, 1965, was served on the owners earlier this month. Until such time as the inspection has been completed, it is not possible to indicate what action may follow.

42.

asked the Minister for Lands the up-todate position with regard to the acquisition and division of the Headborough estate, Tallow, County Waterford, indicating the manner in which it has been or is to be further divided; and if due regard will be had to the compelling claims of persons (names supplied).

Of a total of 290 acres acquired on this estate, some 49 acres have been allotted to local applicants and a five acre plot for afforestation purposes. It is not possible just now to indicate when allotment of the balance, 236 acres, will take place.

The selection of allottees for land is a matter reserved to the commissioners. I am confident that the claims of all applicants will be thoroughly assessed before the lands are finally allocated.
