Vol. 255 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Government Mining Policy.

40.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the statement of a former Minister for Industry and Commerce on 23rd October, 1965, on the occasion of the official opening of Tynagh Mines, that investment by foreign concerns in mining was welcome and that dividends, interest and profits on such investments could be freely transferred to persons outside the State, represents present Government policy.

There has been no change in the policy to grant mining facilities equally to foreign and Irish concerns. In addition, as in the case of all industrial ventures, foreign companies engaging in mining here are allowed free transfer of profits and dividends.
