Vol. 256 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deserted Wife's Allowance.

72.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person (name supplied) was refused a deserted wife's allowance.

The person referred to in the question applied for a deserted wife's allowance on the 13th September, 1971. On investigation of her claim it was ascertained that she went through a form of marriage in July, 1958, but it later transpired that the marriage was a bigamous one on the husband's part. The claim was accordingly rejected as she failed to establish that she was a married woman.
