Vol. 259 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Houses.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the tender for the erection of four houses at Nadd, County Cork, will be sanctioned.

County councils were recently notified that my sanction is no longer necessary to tender proposals for small schemes of six houses or less, for single rural cottages or for demountable or prefabricated dwellings. They have been informed that, generally, any proposal for the acceptance of tenders for such schemes before my Department may be regarded as withdrawn. It will be a matter for the council to determine the schemes which will proceed in 1972-73 having regard to capital allocation which will be notified by my Department for this purpose.

Does this mean that a scheme comprising 45 rural cottages, which was submitted to the Department some months ago, does not require sanction?

If they have small schemes of groups of six houses or less they need not apply to the Department for final approval.

The Minister has confused me. Does the Minister mean that if the scheme comprising 45 houses is submitted in groups of three to five houses they can be taken as sanctioned?

Does that apply to schemes in the Minister's Department now?
