Vol. 259 No. 15

Written Answers. - Meath Housing.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government the price per house of the Navan scheme at present being built by Meath County Council.

72.

asked the Minister for Local Government the price per house for the last two schemes sanctioned by his Department for Meath County Council; and the date of such sanction.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 71 and 72 together.

I presume the Deputy has in mind the 104 house scheme in Navan which is to be built for the housing authorities by the National Building Agency and for which a contract is to be signed shortly. The contract price works out at £3,359 per house, which includes central heating and an element of work in respect of future development. The contract completion period is 68 weeks.

The contract prices per house for the last two schemes in Meath County for which loans and tenders have been approved by me, a 20 house scheme at Athboy and a 12 house scheme at Drumconrath, were £2,867 and £2,800 respectively. The price for Athboy excludes the cost of private site development which was part of the contract. The Athboy tender is dated 20th October, 1970, and the Drumconrath tender 27th January, 1971. The tender for the Athboy scheme was sanctioned on 30th June, 1971, and the Drumconrath tender on 3rd September, 1971.
