It would be contrary to practice, and undesirable, that communications between myself or my Department and RTE should be published save in exceptional circumstances. Accordingly, I am not in a position to supply the information requested by the Deputy.
The Deputy is aware from my reply given to a question on 24th June, 1971 —Vol. 254, No. 14, Col. 2606—that in a case of special importance I had conveyed to RTE the Taoiseach's views regarding a radio programme to be broadcast on Sunday, 20th June, 1971.
The Deputy is also aware of the direction issued under section 31 of the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960, on 1st October last.
