Vol. 264 No. 8

Written Answers. - Central Dublin Development.

101.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether his Department were consulted in the present decision to have development in central Dublin.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the redevelopment proposed for the Moore Street-Chapel Lane area of Dublin. A compulsory purchase order for a site in this area for the purposes of redevelopment, including the widening of Parnell Street, was confirmed by my predecessor on 12th November, 1969. The local authority have now invited proposals to redevelop the area in accordance with a brief prepared by them.

The local authority were not required to consult me before taking a decision to do this, and they did not do so.
