Vol. 265 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Schemes.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Cloughdew group water scheme, County Cork.

Difficulty has been experienced in finding a suitable source to serve the group. My Department have written to Cork County Council to inquire whether it would be possible to supply the group from the source of the Castlemore/Farnanes augmentation scheme.

I want to apologise to the staff of the House for my handwriting. The name of the place has been mis-spelled. It should end in "uv" instead of "ew". Would the Minister treat this as a matter of great urgency? The village has been waiting for a water supply for approximately 16 years.

The Ceann Comhairle has a record for getting questions through speedily and, therefore, I will not detain the House reading out all the reasons why this has been held up for 16 years. Most of them are sitting opposite.

Would the Minister treat it as a matter of urgency? Would he give me the list in a private reply?

I would be glad to do so. The Deputy can show it to his friends.
