Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report on CIE.

41.

asked the Minister for transport and Power if there were distortions in the McKinsey report on CIE.

Mr. Barry

I am aware that the consultants engaged by the National Prices Commission to examine an application by CIE for increases in fares and rates, have, in a report on Dublin City Buses and Suburban Rail Services, criticised certain aspects of the McKinsey report. Copies of both reports are available in the Library of the House.

Can the Minister give the House an assurance that the railway system will always remain an integral part of the transport system operated by CIE?

The Minister can give an assurance that the present system will remain but I cannot answer for future Governments.

There will be future governments.
