36.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve stage II of Rhode water supply scheme, County Offaly.

I gave approval in principle to the revised proposals for this scheme on the 22nd May last.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange to have the outstanding grants paid in connection with the Ballyheen-Kanturk group water scheme, County Cork, which has now been completed.

I understand that the source at present serving this group is a temporary one only.

The final grants will be paid as soon as it is certified that a permanent and satisfactory supply of water is available to the group.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he received tenders for approval from Donegal County Council in respect of Lough Mourne water supply contract No. 4; if he has approved them; and, if so, when.

The Donegal County Council's proposal to accept a tender for the construction of this scheme was submitted to my Department on 17th August and was approved by me on 27th September.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the date on which contract documents in respect of Manor-cunningham water supply scheme, County Donegal, were received in his Department; and the decision in the matter.

Contract documents for this scheme were received in my Department on the 27th August last. I expect to be in a position shortly to give my decision thereon.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position concerning the provision of a public toilet in Listowel, County Kerry.

The council's consultants undertook following an inspection last April to submit amended plans. I understand that these have not yet been submitted to the urban district council.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction as a matter of urgency the plans for the extension to Millstreet sewerage scheme, County Cork.

I approved the contract documents for this scheme recently.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position in respect of the proposed extension to Charleville sewerage scheme, County Cork.

The local authority are re-examining this scheme in the light of recent industrial and housing development in the area.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there has been any movement towards the development of plastic filter beds in this country for the disposal of sewage.

A plant using the media referred to is already in operation in one public sewage treatment works on an experimental basis.
