Vol. 268 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Japanese Manufacturing Project.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make a statement on the recent report (details supplied) that a £4 million Japanese manufacturing project has failed to get approval from the Government to establish a factory at Little Island, County Cork.

A third party appeal under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, against the decision of the planning authority granting permission subject to conditions to the Mitsui Mining and Smelting Company, Ltd., for the construction of a chemical plant at Wallingstown, Little Island, County Cork, was received in my Department on the 7th August, 1973. I will decide the appeal as soon as possible.

Within the next few weeks?

This is a matter which is very important and it must be fully investigated.

It will be as soon as the Minister can?

Yes, as soon as I can.
