My Department are not empowered nor have they the funds to provide or maintain swimming pools. The provision of pools is a matter for local authorities and local voluntary bodies. Should there be a proposal from the local authority or a local voluntary body to provide a pool at Ardee and the site of the new community school was considered the most suitable, my Department would be happy to co-operate in every way possible.
