I am at present examining in some detail the whole situation with regard to youth policy. As the Deputy is no doubt aware, voluntary youth organisations are assisted by grants from my Department, which are used for the training of voluntary youth leaders, administration and publication.
Is there any possibility that the Minister for Education could take up a matter that I would consider to be the responsibility of the Minister for Local Government, that is, the making of grants towards the construction of clubs and premises?
That would be a matter for consultation between the Department of Education and the Department of Local Government but at this stage I cannot make a definite announcement in the matter.
Will the Parliamentary Secretary consider it in his review?
This is a matter that I am considering.
It would be very difficult to build anything having regard to the provision.
