The total number of redundancies notified to my Department in the seven months period March to September, 1973, was 4,395.

The total amount paid from the Redundancy Fund during the period March to September, inclusive, 1973, was £1,708,100. Payments from the fund are estimated to have averaged £388 per redundant worker during the period. These figures refer only to payments from the fund and do not include the proportions of lump sums paid by employers without recoupment from the fund.
