Vol. 269 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Federated Dublin Hospitals.

2.

asked the Minister for Health the future plans for the Federated Dublin Hospitals; and if any of these are to be closed and, if so, when.

The intention is that Sir Patrick Dun's, Mercer's and the Royal City of Dublin Hospitals would be discontinued when 350 new beds would be provided at St. James's Hospital. The provision of these new beds has already been agreed to in principle, but the date of closure of the three Federation hospitals has not yet been determined.

The future of the other four hospitals in the Federation will fall to be considered in relation to general hospital developments in Dublin. No decision has yet been made on this.
