Vol. 269 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Water Supply.

3.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Local Government the up-to-date position of the application for a group water supply for the villages of Lowville, Sonnagh and Killure, near Ahascragh, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

While a design has been prepared for a group water supply scheme to serve 28 houses by way of an extension from the Ahascragh public supply, the proposal cannot go ahead until improvements have been effected to the existing public supply. It is understood that the county council are preparing proposals in regard to it.

Have proposals not yet been submitted from the county council for the erection of a second tower in Ahascragh?

No. By letter dated 18th October Galway County Council intimated that a connection could not be given to the group at present as the present rate of consumption in the Ahascragh scheme is double the storage capacity. The council pointed out that the documents for the improvement of the existing water supply scheme are in course of preparation and will be submitted shortly to the Department.

But have not yet been submitted?
