asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will compulsorily acquire Johnston's farm at Kilbridge, Trim, County Meath, which is now for sale, as there are 14 uneconomic holders adjacent to the estate, each with only 22 acres of land.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Farm.
Cavan): There are no proceedings for the acquisition of the property referred to but I shall arrange to have the Deputy's representations brought to the attention of the Land Commission.
Is the Minister aware that three or four years ago there were proceedings against this farm and they were dropped because of a disease on the farm at the time which is not there now? In view of that would he now proceed with all haste because it is rumoured in the area that the farm is sold?
(Cavan): I am aware that in 1966 or thereabouts these lands were investigated. It was then decided that there was adequate production and it was decided not to proceed with the acquisition of the land. That decision was given on 25th March, 1966, on the grounds, I understand, that there was adequate production. As I told the Deputy in my reply, I will refer his representations to the Land Commission for investigation.
In case this farm was sold during the past week, will the Minister consider putting a three months' standstill order on any sale until the Land Commission have a chance to investigate it?
(Cavan): I will ask the Land Commission to look into the matter.
