Vol. 271 No. 2

Written Answers. - Bray (Wicklow) Ballroom.

373.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that a ballroom in Bray, County Wicklow, which is to be sold could be made available for community purposes; and if his Department will make a contribution to enable the people of Bray to acquire it.

I am aware of the suggestion that the ballroom in question be acquired and adapted for use as a community centre. Community centres come within the scope of the amenity grants scheme and it is open to the Bray Urban District Council to use the funds available to it under the scheme as a grant towards any such project. I understand that this would represent a relatively small proportion of the cost envisaged but there are no other financial sources available to me from which a grant could be made.
