asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of Irish troops engaged on UN peace-keeping missions; and where they are located.

There are at present a total of 275 Irish troops of all ranks serving with two United Nations peace-keeping forces. These are the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) located in the Middle East and the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). 272 soldiers are serving with UNEF, comprised mainly of the 25th Infantry Group. This contingent is located at Rabah in Sinai. Three members of the Permanent Defence Forces are serving at UNFICYP Headquarters in Nicosia.
