Vol. 272 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Paint Prices.

54.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the authorised increase in the price per gallon of two grades of paint (details supplied) since October, 1973.

Two applications for price increases on their entire range of paint products were made in the period from October, 1973 by the manufacturers concerned and were based on increased material, wage and overhead costs. On the recommendation of the National Prices Commission, I approved price increases in both instances. The cumulative increases in the trade prices of the two brands in question, each of which is marketed in two qualities, were 77p per gallon (30.3 per cent) and 52p per gallon (15.5 per cent) for the first brand, and 84p per gallon (30.5 per cent) and 31p (8.7 per cent) for the other brand.
