Vol. 272 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Unemployment Benefit.

14.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment benefit will not be paid to a resident of Bray, County Wicklow (details supplied).

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the disallowance of a claim to unemployment benefit made on 11th December, 1973, by the person in question. The claim was disallowed by a deciding officer on the ground that the statutory condition for receipt of unemployment benefit which requires a claimant to be available for employment was not satisfied. The decision of the deciding officer was upheld by an appeals officer after an oral hearing at which the claimant attended and gave evidence.
