Vol. 272 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Maternity Allowances.

13.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the maternity grant and maternity allowance will be paid to a resident of Bary, County Wicklow (details supplied).

The person referred to by the Deputy claimed, on her own insurance, maternity allowance and maternity grant in respect of a confinement expected 13th March, 1974. She is not qualified for payment as she does not satisfy the contribution condition which requires a claimant to have a minimum of 26 contributions in the contribution year governing the claim. She was so informed on 7th February, 1974. Inquiries as to the possible nonstamping of the insurance card for the period July, 1972, to June, 1973, have been made and the matter is still under investigation. As soon as the investigations are completed the claim to benefit will be reviewed. The maternity grant due by virtue of the husband's insurance was paid on 23rd April, 1974.
