Vol. 275 No. 5

Written Answers. - Disability Benefit Payment.

380.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why disability benefit has not been paid to a person in County Laois (name supplied) who has been awaiting payment for nine weeks and who is fully qualified.

The person referred to by the Deputy was not qualified for payment of disability benefit on his Irish insurance record at the date of his claim. As he had also worked in England inquiries were made to the British Ministry of Health and Social Security regarding his insurance contributions there so as to determine if these contributions would qualify him on his claim. Details of his British insurance which qualified him for benefit were received in my Department on 24th October, 1974, and payment of the amount of disability benefit due on the medical certificates received was issued to him on 25th October, 1974.
