asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if Ireland has ratified the Washington convention on international trade in endangered species.

Ireland signed the Washingtion convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora in Berne on 1st November, 1974. The convention will be ratified by Ireland once the Wild Life Bill, 1974 has been enacted by the Oireachtas.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government proposes to ratify the convention concerning the protection of the world's cultural and natural heritage which was adopted by the 1971 UNESCO General Conference.

The convention concerning the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage was adopted by the UNESCO General Conference on 16th November, 1972. States may become parties to it by the deposit of an instrument of ratification or acceptance.

An examination of the question of ratification or acceptance by this country is now almost concluded and it is expected that a decision will shortly be taken by the Government.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he proposes to sign the Convention on wetlands of international importance and to designate Irish wetlands to be brought within the provisions of the convention.

The Government will shortly consider this matter with a view to signing this convention, subject to ratification, and to designating a wetland thereunder.
