Vol. 275 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Water Scheme.

161.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposals for the Herbertstown group water scheme, County Limerick, were received in his Department; and when he proposes to sanction the scheme.

The group submitted the design for this 118-house scheme early this year. Following examination of the design Limerick County Council agreed, at the suggestion of my Department, to provide a 50,000-gallon water tower to serve the group scheme, because the construction of such a specialised structure would be beyond the technical capacity of the group. The approval of the county council to the design of the group scheme was received by the Minister's Department on 1st November, 1974. The design of the water tower was subsequently received from the council on 8th November last.

Limerick County Council were asked on the same date to confirm that they have no objection to the group scheme going ahead in advance of work commencing on the water tower. On receipt of this confirmation, the Department would allocate grants for the scheme.
