Vol. 276 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disabled Persons' Maintenance Allowance.

14.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make arrangements whereby recipients of disabled persons' maintenance allowance will each receive a Christmas bonus of £100 as they cannot purchase the necessities of life on their present income.

Rates of payment for this allowance are increased annually: the last increase was a substantial one of 18 per cent given in July, 1974. Changes regarding this allowance generally follow the pattern of the rates of social insurance and social assistance payments. The considerations mentioned by the Deputy will be dealt with in a reply to his similar question to the Minister for Social Welfare. That reply may be regarded as applicable also to his question relating to the disabled persons' maintenance allowances.
