Vol. 276 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Widening.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals to widen Lower Kimmage Road, Dublin.

Proposals were received from Dublin Corporation in April, 1973, for the comprehensive improvement of Kimmage Road Lower. The corporation, in conjunction with this scheme, submitted proposals for the construction of a busway, generally parallel to and supplementing Lower Kimmage Road. The two schemes are directly related and, in addition, I understand that CIE are examining the feasibility of rail transportation to serve the Tallaght/Clondalkin area which would have to be considered in conjunction with the busway proposal. In these circumstances a decision on the scheme for Kimmage Road Lower is being deferred pending clarification of CIE plans.

The Deputy will be interested to know, however, that a scheme for the interim improvement of Kimmage Cross Roads including the widening of a section of Kimmage Road Lower has just been received in my Department and is being examined.
