Vol. 278 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oil Pollution.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there is a danger of oil pollution from the coaster mv. Michael beached at Tramore, County Waterford; the steps that are being taken to remove the oil and cargo safely from the vessel; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The clearance of oil pollution, in the event of such occurrence, would be a matter for Waterford County Council who are, in fact, alive to the situation. Matters relating to the prevention of pollution from vessels, such as the removal of oil or cargo, are the concern of the Minister for Transport and Power.
