The policy document is being specifically designed to allow scope for special local needs to be met and I will consult with the Minister for the Gaeltacht in relation to the application of the policy in Gaeltacht areas.

In respect of the Connemara Gaeltacht, has a full-time youth officer been appointed?
I am not so aware. I have met representatives of certain youth groups in Connemara and I will be discussing their problems with the Minister for the Gaeltacht. I do not think any full-time youth officer has been appointed in the Connemara Gaeltacht—certainly not from any Department of Education funds.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Minister for the Gaeltacht has supported the appointment of a full-time youth officer for the Connemara Gaeltacht?
