Vol. 279 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Anaesthetists Dispute.

93.

asked the Minister for Health if, in view of its serious implications, he will give an up-to-date report on the current dispute involving anaesthetists; and if he will outline the steps he is taking to procure a settlement.

A meeting took place last Friday between representatives of the anaesthetists and representatives of the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board, which includes members of my Department.

Representatives of the anaesthetists are to consider a request made at that meeting that they should call off or suspend their present action and so enable their claim to be discussed further. The board would then be prepared to meet the anaesthestists for formal discussions at very short notice. I do not wish to make any further comment at present.
