Vol. 279 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leopardstown Hospital.

94.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the situation regarding the treatment of insured persons in the British Ministry of Pensions Hospital, Leopardstown, County Dublin.

The primary function of this hospital is the treatment of British ex-servicemen. Some months ago, however, an agreement was entered into between the authorities of St. Vincent's Hospital, Elm Park, and the United Kingdom Department of Health and Social Security whereby a limited number of beds in Leopardstown Hospital have been made available for male pre-diagnostic and pre-convalescent patients transferred from St. Vincent's. The transferred patients remain under the care of the consultants from St. Vincent's. The agreement covers persons eligible for hospital treatment under the Health Acts, including persons insured under the Social Welfare Acts.
