Vol. 279 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dental Benefit Scheme.

105.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that persons who became compulsorily insured under the Social Welfare Acts on 1st April, 1974, have not yet been accepted by panel dental surgeons; and the steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation.

I am aware that the Irish Dental Association advised their members not to treat under my Department's dental benefit scheme those persons who, on 1st April, 1974, became by virtue of section 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1973 compulsorily insured under the Social Welfare Acts. The matter has already been discussed with representatives of the Irish Dental Association and proposals arising from those discussions are at present being considered.
