Vol. 281 No. 12

Written Answers. - Cork Unemployment Assistance.

252.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have unemployment assistance paid to a person in Cork (name supplied) who has filled forms for the past eight weeks.

When the person concerned first sought unemployment assistance at his local employment office on 9th April, 1975, he was not the holder of a qualification certificate which is an essential requirement for entitlement to such assistance. It was, therefore, necessary to have an application for a certificate completed by him and referred to a social welfare officer for investigation. The officer's inquiries have not yet been completed, but every effort is being made to have the investigation concluded at an early date.
