Statistics of employment in the private sector of the building and construction industry are published on a monthly basis by the Central Statistics Office. The latest figure available, which is provisional, relates to April, 1975 and shows that the number of persons then employed was 56,802. The corresponding figure for April, 1974 was 62,119. In March, 1975, the figure stood at 57,273 compared with 61,117 in March, 1974.
