Vol. 285 No. 6

Written Answers. - Non-delivery of Post.

270.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that 30 notices for a meeting were posted on 18th July, 1975, and practically none of them was delivered until 8th August, 1975; and if, in view of the late arrival of these notices, he will make an apology to the person concerned (name supplied) and refund the postage charge and the charge for the meeting room.

The items referred to were unfortunately mistreated in course of post and suffered serious delay as stated. Apologies were tendered to the addressees when the items were being delivered and to the sender. The Minister for Posts and Telegraphs is not legally liable for the loss, damage, delay, non-delivery or misdelivery of anything sent by post and compensation is not paid in respect of delay to postal packets.

I am very sorry indeed for the trouble and inconvenience caused in this matter.
