Vol. 285 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Schools.

31.

asked the Minister for Education the educational facilities that he intends to provide for the children in Dursey Island, County Cork in view of the closure of the local primary school.

Grants were withdrawn from Dursey Island national school on 30th June, 1975, as there would be only three pupils on rolls in the current school year. My Department will be prepared to consider favourably the question of allowing a grant towards the cost of maintaining the children on the mainland in order to enable them to attend school.

32.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new national school for Eyeries, County Cork.

My Department have sanctioned a grant towards the cost of providing a new central school for Eyeries parish. The arrangements for the erection of the school are a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works. It is understood that work on the preparation of working drawings is well advanced.
